2019, 4 digitally printed photographs 420mm x 594mm (per photograph). In a time where young people are feeling unstable and lost about their place in the world. The society that we live in currently, is becoming more and more turbulent and with more questions being left unanswered. This means, that the young people of today are looking to intimacy for stability and comfort, and the ways in which they express this is wholly interesting and important. Aloisia Cudmore’s artwork ‘Touch Them’ explores the aesthetic codes of the young people close to her and how they navigate intimacy and relationships. The four images in the series use bold, bright colours and an instant flash to show a moment captured by the artist. Her artistic process in creating this artwork involved a conversation with the subjects about how they felt about intimacy, relationships, and how these are changing. This then turned into a photographic documentation of the conversation and how the subjects interacted with each other. Overall, Cudmore’s artwork is an effective portrayal of the instability of the current world and how today’s young people are navigating that through their own personal relationships and intimacies.
